The film Terra Incognito has won the prestigious 2024 New Zealand Mountain Film Festival’s Hiddleston/MacQueen Award which comes with the prize of $2500 for best New Zealand made film. The film features Wānaka’s own Freeride World Tour skier Craig Murray and was directed by Finlay Woods, it follows Murray and a team of world class skiers as they venture to ski new lines in the Southern Alps.

Terra Incognito delves into the process and harsh realities of navigation in some of the most secluded regions in Aotearoa. These adventures experiment with pack horses to access previously unexplored ski touring areas with varying success.
Woods and Murray both voiced their gratitude and honor in receiving the award, particularly regarding the high caliber and large number of entries from New Zealand filmmakers this year. They also acknowledged all the people whose ‘selfless input’ helped in the creation and success of the film.
