The Victorian Government has announced a $5.4 million training and skill development package aimed at specialists in film, television, and games, as well as a $3.6 million plan to establish a specialized digital game and VFX school. The grant offers paid training on the set of Neighbours and other workshops to assist workers from outside the industry in transitioning into lower-level crew roles. VicScreen CEO Caroline Pitcher stated that the school’s curriculum would be focused on design and technology, addressing skills needed as games, visual effects, and animation continue to converge through the use of programs such as Unreal Engine and Unity.
