Parks Associates announced this week at NAB that by the end of 2027, streaming video services serving US consumers will have lost $113 billion to piracy.

According to the latest forecast from the international research firm, piracy rates for the US streaming platforms in TV and film programming are expected to increase from 22% to 24.5% in 2027. In 2027, the estimated worth of fraudulent advertising delivered to media and entertainment users online could exceed $700 million.

There is hope that developing countermeasures and best practices will cause piracy to plateau by 2027, but stakeholders have not agreed on when it will begin to decline. The new study Streaming Piracy Market & Ecosystem Strategies offers an in-depth look at piracy threats.
