by now to love — 27 september 2023
Even though many Kiwi children spent their childhood playing with Barbie dolls, Jaxson Cook, a promising local musician and model, was one of the few who partied with living doll Margot Robbie.
The gifted Wellingtonian, now 19 years old, first met the Barbie star in 2014 when Robbie was in the country to film a science fiction movie Z For Zachariah. Then aged nine, through an introduction made by his parents, he quickly became close friends with the Australian actress. His father Rodney served as the movie’s stunt coordinator, while his mother Hil, an Oscar-winning makeup artist, hair stylist, and prosthetics maker, was responsible for the film’s makeup.
Hil laughs at the memory of “awesome” Margot watching Jaxson and once going with him to a pirate-themed party when they both dressed as swashbuckling buccaneers.
