Chelsea Winstanley named as finalist in the Women in Film and Television New Zealand Award

The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, February 29, at St Matthew-in-the-City in Auckland. Since its inception in 2004, the awards have recognized and celebrated outstanding women in the industry, featuring notable names like Robyn Malcom, Rose Matafeo, and Stacey Morrison. This year’s event aims to continue the tradition of honoring and inspiring more women in the industry.

The awards consist of 10 categories, including the South Pacific Pictures Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film, SAE Award for Outstanding Newcomer, and the Hinterland Woman to Watch Award. Among the distinguished finalists is Chelsea Winstanley, a prominent New Zealand film producer known for her work on numerous short films and documentaries celebrating Indigenous peoples. Winstanley’s contributions include collaborations on popular titles such as Jojo Rabbit and What We Do in the Shadows alongside her ex-husband, the acclaimed Hollywood director Taika Waititi.
