Through innovative and unconventional filmmaking, Merata Mita (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāi Te Rangi) contributed significantly to advancing Indigenous storytelling both in Aotearoa and internationally. A number of these films have been made in some of the most critical junctures of Aotearoa’s history.
