Sports return to free TV

For the first time in over 30 years, New Zealand’s TVNZ has resumed free-to-air broadcasting of sports such as cricket, netball, athletics, and basketball. Following the demise of Spark Sport’s streaming service, this marks the return of live sports coverage. Sky’s Prime TV has provided some live coverage, but TVNZ’s live offering is unprecedented in decades. TVNZ will begin broadcasting major international sports such as cricket, netball, athletics, and basketball in July, signalling a significant shift in the country’s sports landscape.
