Silverlight Studios’ $280 million plan to create a film village in Wānaka is expected to attract the biggest names in streaming, as operators such as Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Disney and HBO compete for studio space amid unprecedented demand for content. The village will include production facilities, education areas, a technology hub, food outlets and accommodation. Visitors will be able to sip wine in Paris, visit the canals of Venice or hang out in a medieval village.
