The New Zealand town subbing in as Texas in a mystery American production

by Stuff — February 11, 2021

Dozens of cars, caravans and tents were stationed on farmland near the Foxton cemetery.

It’s more known for its fizz than its cowboys, but Foxton is passing for Texas in a mystery film production.

The small lower North Island town is best known for its rich flax history, horse-drawn trams, a Dutch windmill and well-loved American Restaurant Big Tex. But it is to feature in an upcoming production by Powder Keg Farms Ltd.

The venture closed Hickford Rd from 6am to 5pm on Tuesday, as well as Himatangi Block Rd from 6am to 10am, and Foxton Shannon Rd from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday. However, road users reported that closures were still in place at 5pm on Wednesday.
