Disused highway near Nelson the perfect location for apocalyptic film

Donna Botha during the shoot for the short film Epoch Ellipse took place in August on a disused section of the Whangamoa Saddle between Nelson and Blenheim.

Bollywood in the hills behind Nelson and an apocalyptic fight for survival on the Whangamoa Saddle – a burgeoning low-budget filmmaking collective is creating interesting plot twists in the top of the south.

As the global film industry lurches out of first gear in the Covid-19 climate Nelson screenwriter Justin Eade and a team of producers and have been busy forging a production niche of their own.

The team’s biggest achievement in 2020 has been the completion of the post-apocalyptic feature-length film Northspur, which was also shot around Nelson and Marlborough last year.
